About the Event

The word mantra comes from the Sanskrit word manas or “mind” and trai “to protect” or “to liberate from”.  Therefore, the literal meaning of mantra, is “to protect and liberate the mind”. What are we seeking to liberate? Suffering, doubt, confusion, worry, stress and any negative thoughts, including the minds roaming tendencies.

“As asana controls the body, pranayama controls the breath, mantra controls the mind through a natural development of energy and attention” ~ Dr. David Frawley

In a world of constant change, uncertainty, stress and disappointments, we tend to forget our true nature that is peace, joy, love and wisdom.  Mantra sadhana (spiritual practice) is an ancient practice. The practice and proper application of mantras are subtle, yet powerful with the ability to change our mental state, emotional condition and behavioral patterns.  When used correctly with sincere devotion and concentration, our prana (life force) becomes energized, thus producing energy that is balanced, and a vibrational protection called kavacha. We become inspired to live a positive, purposeful, happy and healthy life.  An inner awakening also takes place in the body into feeling the sensations of both sound and vibration, thus, every part of us illuminates. There’s a famous saying, “Something cannot come from nothing.”  Through mantra practice, we victoriously reclaim our inherent qualities of peace, joy, love and wisdom.  Sri Brahmananda Sarasvati says it perfectly, “We are in the state where we are missing nothing."
