“To save the righteous, to destroy the wicked, and to reestablish Dharma, I am born from age to age.”
—Krishna to Arjuna, Bhagavad Gita 4.8
Gandhi speaks of this verse from the Bhagavad Gita saying that “Right ever prevails” and that it is goodness that rules the world. He notes that nonviolence is so powerful that in its presence all violence dissipates. Yet, today’s world seems rife with such pervasive violence that even the peaceful are compelled to speak and act out of anger. The remedy for the devolution into adharma (non-righteousness) is yoga — skill in action. This states that one’s yoga practice does exist above the fray of the human world, but within its messiness. In this month’s yoga talk story, we will explore the meaning of yoga as skill in action and how to understand righteous action in the world (dharma) with the personal search for liberation form suffering (mokṣa).
This talk story is a conversation more so than a lecture. Please bring your thoughts, questions, and contributions for a lively discussion on how you practice yoga in the world.
Session will be recorded and sent to you once it's complete. You will be able to download to your computer for future viewing.
